Cultural Marxism and battling the left.

Cultural Marxism and battling the left.

Today we focus on something called “Cultural Marxism” – something that has been around for nearly a century and has invaded our schools via multiculturalism and political correctness among other ways. It is basically a tearing down of traditions by denouncing Christianity and moral truths, which has led us to our “anything goes” society. It has also given us something called “critical theory,” which was brought to us by the Frankfurt School (Marxists from Germany). Critical theory basically means criticizing everything…and isn’t that what the left does constantly?

Also in this post are warnings for America over the next several months before the election in November. The left is in a war with us, and they are fearful of losing their power in the elections, so they will be ramping up the rhetoric. We must be careful not to overreact, and we must be alert to their provocations. They criticize everything, and they don’t care about the truth. You can read more about Critical Theory here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Critical_theory_(Frankfurt_School)

Cultural Marxism.

We had a discussion on this blog among a few commenters the other day about how to go about overcoming the leftist bent that is currently running our country off of a cliff. One of the long-range and short-range problems is educating our children. Home schoolers are constantly being attacked in this country (remember critical theory), and it’s not just because the unions don’t like to lose students for their schools (and, therefore, lose those dollars from the state). It’s also because the schools are where something called “Cultural Marxism” has been infused into the bloodstream of our teachers and children, so, of course, the left doesn’t want to leave any child behind in their brainwashing efforts. This is from Chuck Roger at The American Thinker.

What reduced American education to its current state?

In part, the answer lies in cultural Marxism, a societal disease spawned by an Italian, Antonio Gramsci, in the 1920s. Gramsci preached that in order to free “oppressed” social groups, the oppressors’ beliefs must be marginalized. Because Gramsci saw one particular group — that is, traditional Christians — as oppressive, he prescribed attacking tradition in general and Christianity specifically as the solution to oppression. Gramsci denounced moral certainty and elevated moral mushiness.

Historian John Fonte observed that while traditionalists want to revitalize “objective moral truths” in order to “remoralize society,” cultural Marxists push “subordinate groups” to invent situational truths to “achieve political and cultural liberation.” Traditionalists support personal accountability. Cultural Marxists heed Gramsci’s command to politicize everything, a command followed religiously by feminists, for example. Traditionalists want to strengthen America, but cultural Marxists want “transformation.”

To observe that Gramsci’s formulation ignores the lessons of the human experience is to observe that Marxism itself sows disaster every time it’s blindly attempted. So counter to reality is cultural Marxism that believers can further the doctrine only by not discussing reality at all. Lazy thinkers posing as intellectuals have integrated cultural Marxism into the education system for nearly a century, intensifying the societal decay which lazy thinker John Dewey’s educational philosophy instigated. Marx and Dewey relentlessly reach from the grave to erode the judgment skills of America’s youth and erase consciousness of America’s beginnings.

Teachers have embraced cultural Marxism, pushing Gramsci’s notion that “the personal is the political” and hatching generation after generation of hypersensitive students who proceed to hyper-sensitize the American conversation — political correctness run amok. The education establishment has incorporated cultural Marxism into the teaching of philosophy, the arts, literature, social sciences, and even the hard sciences.

Colleges of education condition teachers to believe that only the unenlightened reject multiculturalism, “social justice,” and other twisted applications of moral relativism and moral equivalence. The “good” educator does not tolerate something as offensive as a universal moral code and knows that traditionalism, though reinforcing to America, is not a “good” thing, for America herself is not necessarily good. The compliant teacher “transforms” America one young mind at a time.

You can find much more at the link concerning Obama’s buddy Bill Ayers and his influence on colleges of education in America.  Also discussed is political correctness in school books, which is really just cultural Marxism. This is the insidious virus that has been infecting our children for many years. You can see the result in this current administration where it has certainly let loose a political firestorm between conservatives who believe in America’s founders, logic, rationality and truth, and the cultural Marxists who disdain the American experience and want to “transform” the country (Obama’s own words.) Beware, America.

David White over at http://www.americanthinker.com/ reminds Americans, especially those attending Tea Parties, to beware of those who would provoke their anger because there is a next step. Whether one wants to believe the current administration would do such a thing as to proclaim martial law or not, Americans must be on guard for such a thing. Many thought Obamacare was dead after Scott Brown was elected too, right? Vigilance is necessary.

…Beware the next step. If we let ourselves become driven into violence, we do so at our own peril. Anarchy is not a long lived state, and the more comfortable and prosperous a nation is (and America ranks first in the history of civilizations), the faster the adoption of a dictator to “restore order” and “provide security“…

Beware America…in the days ahead, you’ll be driven to more anger. Amnesty is on the horizon Other attacks on your liberty are on the horizon. They will try to shut you up and shut you down. You will be painted as extremists, called names, beaten down. Those in power now, think that if they rattle the cage hard enough, something is bound to break loose. But stand down, there is a revolution coming…the bloodless revolution of November.  Snip –

“Still, if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than live as slaves.”
[Winston Churchill]

Beware America…tread carefully now. The modus operandi of those in power is “Never let a crisis go to waste”. They are not constrained by conscience, and so have no qualm in manufacturing the next crisis. Their prospects for November are bleak (I’m sure they have read the tea leaves, just as you), they have nothing to lose…and those with nothing to lose are the most dangerous.

Beware America…there is a tyrant in waiting.

I think these are wise words. November can’t get here fast enough, but we will defeat them at the ballot box because we must. Read it all here: http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2010/03/beware_america.html

Let’s not act surprised.

Eric Erickson of http://www.redstate.com  says the Democrats shouldn’t act surprised by the vitriol and the letters they’ve received. Let’s face it, they went against the will of the people and now they’re reaping the whirlwind. Threats and violence are not the answer. We can’t afford to be painted with that brush, that’s why we must fight the accusations and lies as well as maintain our tempers – all the while telling the truth about Obamacare and not allowing passage of their next scary legislation: cap and trade and/or immigration reform.

The threats, potential acts of violence, and violence against those who voted for the health care legislation must be condemned. They are neither helpful to those seeking repeal nor the acts of a civilized society. I comfortably say I speak for all the front page posters here condemning the violence and threats. The people who think this country has descended into the darkness do in fact send us down a dark path themselves with these actions.  Snip –

…I get worse stuff routinely. Rush Limbaugh gets worse stuff on a daily basis. Republican members of Congress have gotten similar and worse stuff…Snip –

I don’t want to underplay the bad. Some of it, however, is not. And some of it is overplayed. Like the press reports about protestors yelling racial epithets at Congressman Lewis, which video shows and reporters I’ve talked to confirm, did not happen, a lot of this is going to be overblown, but the media loves a good story. Snip –

There are a great many Americans who truly believe the Democrats shredded the constitution on Sunday night. Made more galling, the Democrats were pretty upfront that they were pushing it through before congressmen could go home and face their angry constituents every poll showed were opposed to this legislation. And only after the vote did the media really start talking about the taxes, the flexible spending account cuts, the pre-existing conditions loophole for kids, etc. — i.e. the bad stuff in the bill.  Snip –

something seems to be brewing and I frankly don’t think the Democrats should at all be surprised. They were and they knew they were playing with fire to advance legislation many Americans see as the undoing of the American Experiment. Some of those Americans will now conclude that, like with the founders, if King George will not listen, King George must be fought.

Acts of violence against congressmen for behaving as congressmen are wholly inexcusable. We should be vigilant to police our own side because as we’re already seeing through a series of breathless and inaccurate reports, the press and Democrats are going to be quick to run most any story and the retraction will never be as significant as the initial report.

But let’s not act surprised. The only people surprised by the rage are the ones who refused to venture outside Washington to understand first hand what the voters were actually thinking before congressmen voted.

Frankly, after all the leadership threats and bullying against swing Democrats to vote for leadership, I think it is a bit ironic Democratic leaders are now decrying threats and bullying of swing state Democrats by their constituents who very clearly did not want them to vote as they did.

Well said. Read it all here: http://www.redstate.com/erick/2010/03/25/if-king-george-will-not-listen/

  1. In light of the arrest of the guy that threatened Eric Cantor one wonders how they media will play this. I think there must be some angry communication to the Dems but I in no way believe this is not being repeated against the Republicans.

As government gets bigger the more thug like they will become. Take a look at Henry Waxman calling various large companies to Capitol Hill to “investigate” their announcements that the Health Care Law will cost them (and so their stock holders) a bundle and they may have to drop their helping seniors with their prescription drug needs.

Really, all of these bastards need to go.

  2. Yeah, I’ve read about that dufus, ugly man Waxman … who does he think he is? What business is it of his what all of these companies are doing in order to survive. According to Andy McCarthy of National Review, the companies by law have to report their way forward or answer to the SEC. So, if they don’t report the SEC is on their backs and if they do then Waxman and Obama are on their backs. This is wave of the future when government overreaches. Once they overreach, then it’s so much easier the next time.
